Travel tips
Here is a list of nearby towns you can reach by public and/or private transport.
Naples - Capodichino Airport / Garibaldi Station
approx. 32 km
By car, the drive from the airport via A-3 route takes approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. The highway toll is 2.30€ one way.
From the arrivals terminal there is a direct bus service"Curreri Viaggi" to Sorrento, via Castellammare di Stabia. The ticket costs 10€ and allows for two pieces of luggage. Schedule and reservations can be found here.
Private transfers for 4-5 people to/from the airport can also be arranged at an affordable price. Transfers for bigger groups or with English/French/Spanish speaking drivers as well as private 1 day Coast Tours are also available at a higher fare. For price details and availability please send a message.
The suburban Circumvesuviana railway Line 1 connects Naples to Sorrento. Hop on the train at Garibaldi train Station and get off at Pioppaino stop; the journey takes about 39 minutes and costs 3.30€.
Pompeii archeological site
5km
Tak the Circumv. train and get off at Pompeii-Scavi, 1 stop from the house. The exit leaves you right in front of the site entrance - PORTA MARINA.
The center of the current city of Pompeii is close to "Pompei FS" state railway station (Ferrovia dello Stato, abbreviated as FS), but you can also reach it by walking for about 20 minutes from the ticket offices at Porta Marina. However, if you intend to get to Pompeii town by car from our apartment, you can park for a fee at the "Pompei FS" railway station, other private parkings such as Parking Plinio e.g. or on any street area marked with a blue line on the pavement (so called "striscia blu" parking area). To pay for the parking use either Easypark app or the closest parking meter. Parking fees are not expensive in this city (max. 1,50€/hour), but if you aim to find a free place, be ready to embark on an intense search as everywhere during high season... Tight maneuvering is very likely to happen!
Positano
28km
First take Circumv. train and get off at the Sorrento terminus. Change to the SITA bus, line no. 5070. The journey from there will take approximately 50 minutes in good traffic/weather conditions.
Access by car / motorbike / scooter leads through state road no. 145 and then Amalfi state road no. 163 and takes about 1 hour from the apartment.
Amalfi
35km
The fastest way to get there by public transport is the SITA Sud bus line no. 5080, with a change at Agerola/San Lazzaro. The starting point is near the port of Castellammare, it is not well signposted, but don't worry, we will guide you. It will be necessary to change in San Lazzaro and Bomerano (on the way back). All in all, you need to allocate at least 90 minutes for this journey.
Vesuvius crater
There are several private drivers providing transfer to the volcano crater, most of them park in front of either Villa dei Misteri or Ercolano Scavi Circumvesuviana train stops (Villa of the Mysteries & Herculaneum ruins respectively). Private carriers offer their services also at Pompei FS station exit and Pompei Scavi exit. A round-trip ticket may cost around 10-15€. A low budget option is the official EAV bus from Piazza Anfiteatro in Pompeii, with a one-way ticket priced at 2.70€.
If you are travelling by car, take the highway toward Naples, take the exit marked "Torre del Greco" or "Ercolano-Portici" and then follow the signposts to Mount Vesuvius.
